At District 88, our mission is to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement.
Each and every day, District 88 works to build positive futures for its students inside the classroom and beyond. The results of the 2015-16 Illinois Report Card show the successes of District 88 and reflect the efforts of staff, Board of Education members, students, parents/guardians and community members. Those results are just one tool the district uses to continue improving.
Highlights of District 88’s 2015-16 report card include:
We had a student-participation rate of 98 percent on the ELA portion of the exam and 96 percent on the Math portion of the exam. The improvement in our scores truly is a testament to our staff, students, parents/guardians, Board of Education members and community members. I would like to thank our students and staff for their commitment to performing well on this exam, and I commend them for their level of preparation.
While we are proud of the improvements in our PARCC scores, we also are thrilled the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) listened to our concerns regarding that exam and will now provide the College Board’s SAT exam, including a writing component, at no cost to all public high school juniors this year. The SAT aligns with the Illinois Learning Standards and provides a college-reportable score for admissions purposes. This means Illinois high schools will transition from the ACT to the SAT as the state assessment.
