District 88 is proud to announce Ed Hoster as the district’s new Chief Financial Officer.
Hoster was named as the new CFO during the May 13 District 88 Board of Education meeting and will assume his new role July 1. He comes to district 88 after working as the Business Manager at Argo Community High School District 217, Assistant Superintendent for Business/Treasurer at Hinsdale Township High School District 86 and Coordinator of Business Services at Glenbard Township High School District 87.
“Our mission at District 88 is to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement, and Hoster’s experience, knowledge and passion will enable us to continue to achieve that mission,” said Dr. Scott Helton, District 88 Superintendent. “Despite challenging economic times, District 88 is financially stable, and we’re confident Hoster will maintain that successful path. We’re thrilled to have him join our team.”
Hoster received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in school business management from Northern Illinois University.
“I look forward to communicating the complexity of school finances in a simple and understandable manner to the Board of Education, administration, staff and community members with honesty and transparency,” Hoster said. “My goal is to seek the input of others, be open to many views and foster an environment of involvement from stakeholders. A shared decision-making process, especially when it comes to the financial resources of the district, should lead to the alignment of priorities and a highly effective resource-allocation model to achieve the educational priorities of the district.”
Hoster said his priorities include maintaining the long-term financial stability of District 88 and integrating technology into the district.
“Technology is definitely of growing importance to education, for the classroom instruction process, the skills students need to be successful in the workplace and for the management of the school district,” Hoster said. “I enjoy learning about new ways to apply the use of technology to improve operations and support the needs of staff to achieve their education program goals.”
