At District 88, we know we are successful because of our partnerships. It takes all of us working together to help make sure our students and community members have the skills and opportunities to fulfill their goals.
That’s why we’re happy to join with the Village of Addison and local businesses to form the Workforce Development Committee. The focus of that group is two-fold:
Through those two areas, the committee’s goal is to discover the needs of employers and train local students and adults to meet those needs. The committee is working with organizations such as College of DuPage (COD) to provide training to help students and adults be competitive in the workforce. COD offers dual-credit classes for District 88 students to earn college credit while in high school and has hosted an English as a Second Language (ESL) program for adults since 2003 at Addison Trail. The Workforce Development Committee is looking to expand those services to further benefit the community.
The committee is finalizing a survey that will be sent to Addison businesses, so be sure to look for that mailing about mid-April. We also are excited to host the following event:
Job Expo
What: An opportunity to share information about your business with community members and to find potential employees
When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7
Where: Addison Trail, 213 N. Lombard Road in Addison
If your business is interested in having a booth during the Job Expo, or for more information: Contact Mary Heneghan at the Village of Addison at 630-693-7510 or mheneghan@addison-il.org by April 22
We know these initiatives will make a positive difference in the lives of our students and for the community members of Addison, and we thank you for your continued support of District 88.
