District 88 names Henry Hyde Resource Center as April Business Partner

During its April 27 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education, along with the administration, named the Henry Hyde Resource Center as a Business Partner. The Business Partner program recognizes companies, organizations and individuals for their support in building futures for District 88 students and helping to accomplish the district’s mission and vision.

The Henry Hyde Resource Center in Addison, which operates through the Addison Police Department, provides a variety of services and programming for children and adults in the area. The center is a prime example of a company working with the district to achieve its goals.

During the meeting, the district recognized Kiki Campuzano - DeLuna, Director of the center, Village of Addison Mayor Tom Hundley and Addison Police Department Deputy Chief Jose Gonzalez for their incredible support of District 88.

The Henry Hyde Resource Center is always willing to collaborate with District 88 and goes above and beyond for our students and families. The following are just some examples of the center’s incredible involvement and generosity.

  1. The center is part of District 88’s Heritage Spanish Career Fluency Program, which provides an opportunity for students to develop their skills in professional settings and introduces them to a variety of career paths, while enhancing their biliteracy. This is accomplished through a job-shadow component, where participants visit worksites –  including the Henry Hyde Resource Center – once a week during second semester of the school year. The goal is to encourage pupils to use their Spanish as much as possible, so they can learn about different fields and how to use their Spanish professionally to give them a competitive edge.

  2. Students from Addison Trail volunteer at the center after school and during the summer.

  3. When the district asked to host an Addison Trail Padres Latinos en Acción (Latino Parents in Action) meeting at the center, Campuzano - DeLuna didn’t hesitate to open the doors and welcome the group.

  4. The center always invites District 88 and Addison Trail administrators to attend its annual summer celebration/community barbecue.

  5. Campuzano - DeLuna recently presented during an Addison Resources Connect (ARC) meeting to share information about the center. The mission of that group is “to connect Addison youth and families with community resources that support well-being and growth.”

As you can see, the Henry Hyde Resource Center is a tremendous Business Partner. District 88 is proud to honor the center, Campuzano - DeLuna, Hundley and Gonzalez in recognition of their efforts. We truly thank them for all they have done and continue to do for our students, families and the community.
