Addison Trail and Willowbrook host encore showing of state-recognized theatre performances
On April 8, Addison Trail and Willowbrook students, staff and community members came together to recognize and celebrate the schools’ theatre departments during an encore showing of their state-recognized performances.
Willowbrook Theatre state-level success:
- Willowbrook’s IHSA Contest Play, “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde, was named as the State Champion in Dramatics, as well as the State Champion in Tech Performance (large set)!

- The following Willowbrook students earned All-State Cast honors:junior Kasey Barnett (Algernon Moncrieff), junior Konstantine Gzamouranis (Jack Worthing), senior Malachy Heneghan (Lady Bracknell), sophomore Niamh Lashmet (Gwendolen Fairfax), sophomore Shem Rodrigues (Lane and Merriman) and freshman Ashlyn Ruane (Cecily Cardew).
- The following Willowbrook students earned All-State Lighting Team honors: sophomore Cara Casey, senior Megan Hasler, senior Molly Hield and senior Vivian Zachar.
- “The Importance of Being Earnest” is a farcical comedy that tells the story of two bachelors who invent false identities to escape responsibilities, leading to romantic complications, mistaken identities and parody of Victorian society. According to wikipedia.org, the play depicts “the tangled affairs of two young men … who lead double lives to evade unwanted social obligations, both assuming the name Ernest while wooing the two young women of their affections.”
Addison Trail Theatre state-level success:
- Addison Trail’s IHSA Musical Theatre Review entry, “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” earned 3rd place in the state competition.

- The following Addison Trail students were part of the production (pictured above): senior Mary-Terese Tamondong (Director), sophomore Rowan O'Hara (Assistant Director), senior Savannah Flowers, sophomore Isaiah Montanez, senior Reece Smith, junior Sofia Valdez Acosta and senior Lilia Zielinski.
- About the performance: For the contest, the group members had to present a 10-minute musical selection from a published score written for musical theatre.
