On Sept. 2, District 88 hosted a district update meeting for parents/guardians and students. This was the first update meeting of the 2025-26 school year.

During the meeting, Addison Trail, Willowbrook and District 88 administrators, as well as District 88 Board of Education members, shared the following important information.

  • Recent successes and achievements, including Addison Trail and Willowbrook earning strong ratings from GreatSchools and U.S. News & World Report

    • Willowbrook earned a College Readiness Rating of 9/10 from GreatSchools and outperforms 86% of similar schools in Illinois, and Addison Trail earned a College Readiness Rating of 8/10 from GreatSchools and outperforms 77% of similar schools in Illinois. 

    • Addison Trail and Willowbrook achieved status as Best High Schools though the U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-26 Best High Schools rankings and earned high National and metro-area rankings.
  • A review of District 88’s updated Strategic Plan and online data dashboard, which was approved in June 2024 (see details at https://www.dupage88.net/StrategicPlan2023)

  • Areas of focus for the 2025-26 school year

  • District 88’s continued focus on providing a high-quality and comprehensive learning environment to prepare students to be college and career ready in a diverse society

  • A reminder of District 88’s new graduation requirement

    • Beginning in August 2026, all District 88 graduates must have a post-secondary commitment and must have completed at least one career-related experience. Each student will create an individual learning plan (ILP) to facilitate this process.   

  • A reminder/review of SchooLinks, a comprehensive college-and-career planning and tracking tool used by counselors and teachers to support students

  • A reminder that the district’s curricular offerings include more than 30 Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level courses and more than 50 Dual-Credit/Collegiate-Credit courses in 18 career pathway areas, along with award-winning fine arts programming

  • Details regarding upcoming assessments for students

  • A reminder of District 88’s commitment to elevating the academic literacy (reading and writing) of all of our students

  • Seal and Commendation of Biliteracy recognition, which is given to graduating high school students who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in English and in reading, writing, listening and speaking in another language

  • Mental health and social-emotional supports available for students

  • Academic supports available for students

  • Facility improvements, including new “safe and clean bathrooms” initiatives

  • Safety and security updates/reminders

  • Information regarding transportation in District 88

  • How to stay connected with District 88, including groups that parents/guardians and community members can join

  • Reminder about the Parent Resources Page (at www.dupage88.net/ParentResources), which provides a “one-stop shop” for parents/guardians to access all of the important information they need in one place

  • How to access school athletic information

  • An invitation to attend the District 88 Foundation’s second annual Gathering at the Grapevine fundraiser on Sept. 20 (see details at www.dupage88.net/GatheringAtTheGrapevine2025)

Throughout the school year, District 88 hosts update meetings to communicate and connect with parents/guardians and students. This is an opportunity to meet with administrators and Board of Education members to discuss the school year and future plans, as well as a chance to participate in a question-and-answer session.
