District 88 and Addison Business Exchange host Work-Based Learning Networking Event to expand/enhance partnerships to provide opportunities for students

On Aug. 19, District 88 hosted a Work-Based Learning Networking Event, in partnership with the new Addison Business Exchange (ABE).

District 88 offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes credentialed career-based curricular tracks, more than 30 Advanced Placement college-level courses and more than 50 dual-credit and collegiate-credit courses in 18 career pathway areas, along with award-winning fine arts programming. The district is committed to providing multiple and flexible pathways for students to find post-secondary success and continues to expand access to college credits and industry-recognized certifications to help ensure students are college and career ready.

The Work-Based Learning Networking Event took place as part of the district’s focus to foster strong community and business partnerships to provide experiences for students. About 60 people attended the evening, and participants learned about:

• Career pathways/programs offered at District 88, including hearing directly from students about how these opportunities have helped support their future goals
  
  
• Benefits of partnering to develop the future workforce
  
  
• Options available to get involved and support District 88 students, while benefiting their company
