On April 24, Willowbrook hosted the annual West Suburban Conference Sports Spectacular. To view a photo gallery from the event, click on the image above (or go to www.dupage88.net/SportsSpectacular2025).
During the event, more than NEED NUMBER individuals with a variety of abilities participated in cosmic bowling, basketball, adapted golf, a dance video game and karaoke. They also enjoyed games, crafts (including face painting and making friendship bracelets), a photo booth and tasty treats. The event began with an Opening Ceremonies to introduce the schools in attendance (which included a majority of the West Suburban Conference) and closed with a DJ dance party.
The Sports Spectacular was founded in 1994 by a group of West Suburban Conference athletic directors. Retired Addison Trail physical education teacher Sheri D’Ambrose wanted to continue the event to offer students an atmosphere of fun, and District 88 looks forward to keeping the tradition going for years to come. This year’s Sports Spectacular was coordinated by Willowbrook staff member Rachel Karos, and more than NEED NUMBER students served as peer helpers.
Karos is the backup quarterback for The Chicago Winds, a tackle football team in the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC), and several of her teammates attended the Sports Spectacular to provide football drills and take photos with the students.
