District 88 is thrilled to introduce a new communication piece – a video segment called “88 in 88.” These videos feature about 88 seconds of news and highlights from District 88 to share important information to help keep stakeholders connected with and informed about the district.
The most recent “88 in 88” episode highlights a new attendance initiative. Starting on April 14, parents/guardians will receive an e-mail every Monday with an update regarding their child’s attendance at school.
We know the first step to student success in the classroom is making sure they are in school as much as possible, and this weekly message will help accomplish that important goal. The e-mail will provide parents/guardians with a quick and simple way to monitor whether there’s a concern with their child’s attendance. It will have an individualized report that will include the following details:
The content will be displayed in a simple format, using a “green, yellow, red” design to show the data. There also will be links to information on how to help improve student attendance, as well as interventions for support.
The research is clear – there is a strong and direct correlation between attendance and student achievement. Consistent attendance is not just about being physically present; it sets the stage for academic excellence, personal growth and long-term success. Students who attend school on a regular basis outperform their peers, and building futures for our students starts with making sure they are at school and in class.
