District 88 is proud to have a diverse school community – the district has about 50 languages represented among its families and is ranked No. 2 on the “2025 Most Diverse School Districts in DuPage County” list by Niche. District 88’s core values include ensuring all students, staff and community members feel safe, valued, respected and welcome.
As part of that effort, the district continues to enhance its focus on excellence for all and culturally responsive/trauma-informed teaching to meet the needs of students.
Each February, District 88 hosts events/activities to recognize and honor Black History Month, and the district will offer many opportunities again this year from Feb. 18 to 21. This year’s theme, “BLACK FIRSTS,” will celebrate the groundbreaking achievements of Black individuals. Highlights will include a spirit week (see the image above for details), a special presentation by former professional basketball player and coach Bill Cartwright and a financial literacy workshop led by Junior Achievement.
