District 88 Board of Education recognizes District 88 Student Success Coordinator for earning doctoral degree

During its Nov. 11 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education, along with the District 88 administration, recognized and congratulated District 88 Student Success Coordinator Dr. VaLarie Humphrey for earning her doctoral degree.

Dr. Humphrey earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership: Coaching and Mentoring Educators on Oct. 18 from Aurora University after successfully defending her dissertation, titled “Unraveling the impact of disc-influenced teaching on promoting inclusive educational settings: An interpretive phenomenological investigation.” 

Dr. Humphrey joined Addison Trail in 2021-22 and immediately made an impact. She was hired as District 88’s first Student Success Coordinator in December 2023. Dr. Humphrey has more than 35 years of experience in education and travels the world as a motivational/transformational speaker. She was an educator in Chicago Public Schools and Bellwood School District 88, served as a Principal with Quad County Urban League, was an administrator with Indian Prairie School District 204 and was a professor at Aurora University. Dr. Humphrey earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and her master’s degree in General Administration from Benedictine University.

During the Nov. 11 meeting, the board presented Dr. Humphrey with an engraved clock in honor of her dedication and commitment to enhancing the educational environment for the students, staff and learning community of District 88. And on Oct. 23, Addison Trail hosted an event where students and staff came together to celebrate Dr. Humphrey’s accomplishment.
