On Nov. 12, Addison Trail and Willowbrook students are invited to attend an event called “Cultural Understanding Through Food.” No registration is required, and service hours are available.
During the evening, participants will enjoy a cooking demonstration and enhance their cultural awareness skills.
The event will be led by Lynn Dugan, MS, RDN and author. According to https://www.linkedin.com/in/lynn-dugan-ms-rdn-71274113/, Dugan “translates the science of nutrition to a practical application in the kitchen. She understands that life is busy and eating mindful of good nutrition can be a challenge. To help make healthy eating a reality, (Dugan) conducts cooking classes and authors a blog at www.myplate2yours.com. (Dugan) has authored numerous professional publications. She recently published her first book for consumers, ‘Not Your Mama’s Kitchen: The Essential Guide to Get Yours Started.’”
The gathering will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at Helen Plum Library, 411 S. Main St. in Lombard. It is being hosted by Reality Illinois, the Teen Advisory Board to the DuPage County Health Department, which focuses on well-being, empowering leaders and making a difference. Members of that group advocate, participate in service projects and assist with the health department’s youth media campaigns.
