On April 24, Willowbrook hosted the annual West Suburban Conference Sports Spectacular. To view a photo gallery from the event, click on the image above (or go to www.dupage88.net/WSCSportsSpectacular2024). Photos are by Willowbrook parent Joe Pearson.
During the event, more than 400 individuals with a variety of abilities filled Willowbrook’s field house, gyms and room C2. The pupils participated in cosmic bowling, bags, balloon badminton and more. They enjoyed games, activities, karaoke and tasty treats as well. The event began with an Opening Ceremonies to introduce the schools in attendance.
This year’s event also featured a Chicago Bears Mini Monsters Clinic (brought to you by Advocate Health Care), a free youth program that stresses the importance of healthy eating, physical activity and proper hydration through fun, non-contact football drills. Chicago Bears Manager of Youth Football and Community Programs Gustavo Silva helped coordinate the clinic.
The Sports Spectacular was founded in 1994 by a group of West Suburban Conference athletic directors. Retired Addison Trail physical education teacher Sheri D’Ambrose wanted to continue the event to offer students an atmosphere of fun, and District 88 looks forward to keeping the tradition going for years to come. The event was hosted and run by Willowbrook staff members Rachel Karos, Tiffany Linwood, Hannah Walsh and Anthony Gebhart, and more than 150 students served as peer helpers.
