According to https://gac.illinois.gov/osg/guardianship-fact-sheet.html, “Guardianship is needed when a person is unable to make and communicate responsible decisions regarding his personal care or finances due to a mental, physical or developmental disability.” The process can be overwhelming and challenging to navigate, and this event helped explain guardianship and alternative options.

The seminar was open to parents/guardians who are considering seeking guardianship of their child who has special needs and is graduating high school or turning 18 years old.
