As the winter athletic season comes to a close at Willowbrook, one team in particular is celebrating wrapping up a historic year.

The Willowbrook Boys Bowling Team completed its first season as an official Illinois High School Association (IHSA) sport at the school, after being adopted by the district because of interest/enrollment. Fifty students participated, and everyone was able to compete at least once.

Highlights from the team’s first year include:

  • Regular-season record: 5-4

  • During practice, varsity bowler junior Dean Romano rolled a perfect 300

  • Post-season success:
    • Finished in 4th place at Regionals

    • Qualified as a team to Sectionals and finished in 11th place

    • Regional Champion: Junior Nathan Dodmead (1,313 total pins)

“This was our first year as a Willowbrook boys sport, and I could not be more pleased with the results,” said Curtis Hudson, Willowbrook Boys Bowling Head Coach. “We have our entire varsity team returning next year to try and run it back and make some more noise!”
