District 88 shares important information, reminders about SAT and academic supports for students

District 88 is committed to providing opportunities and supports to help students succeed in their postsecondary plans/goals. As part of that focus, Addison Trail and Willowbrook are implementing/continuing the following initiatives to assist students.

About the SAT
The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges/universities to make admissions decisions and is composed of two sections: Reading and Writing and Math. It also provides opportunities for students to apply for certain scholarships and prepares them to be lifelong test takers to meet college and career goals.

The class of 2025 will take the SAT on March 20. As a reminder, all public-school students in grade 11 must take the SAT with essay as a graduation requirement.

The 1080/Grow 60 Project
The Addison Trail Counseling Department and administration are working with members of the class of 2025 to help them achieve a score of 1080 or higher on the SAT, or improve their score by at least 60 points from the PSAT (pre-exam) they took this past fall. Students who reach or surpass those benchmarks will be entered into a raffle to receive free prom tickets, free homecoming tickets, or a free parking pass. To help share this information, an assembly took place on Jan. 17 (see a photo gallery from the event above, and click on the images for photo captions).

SAT sessions

  • Willowbrook will host a Study Group for students to help them prepare for the SAT. Sessions will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays through March 14 at the school. See details and register at www.dupage88.net/SATStudyGroup2024 (or click on the flyer above).

  • Willowbrook students also are encouraged to attend free SAT Lunch Study Sessions from Feb. 26 to March 15 (Monday through Thursday). See details at www.dupage88.net/SATLunchSessions2024 (or click on the flyer above).

SAT PrepScholar
To help students succeed on the exam, the District 88 Board of Education authorized the purchase of SAT PrepScholar for all District 88 juniors to ensure equitable access to test preparation. This online platform, which is free for the students, provides customized (adaptive and self-paced) and on-demand access for students and replicates the new digital SAT format. It includes test questions, diagnostic quizzes, problem-solving videos and lessons for students, as well as teacher tools to track student progress and acceleration modules.
