Members of the District 88 class of 2023 are invited to attend information sessions to learn about the CTE Youth Apprenticeship program

Attention, members of the District 88 class of 2023 and parents/guardians of juniors! Did you know District 88 offers a CTE Youth Apprenticeship program? This course is geared toward students who are looking to pursue careers in Career and Technical Education (CTE) fields, including engineering, precision manufacturing, cybersecurity, computer programming, computer hardware and software design, business, hospitality and more.

This is a double-block course that includes a release period for students to attend a paid apprenticeship at a local company. Students will learn about different aspects of the manufacturing process and have the opportunity to earn career certifications. The class takes place during 7th and 8th periods and is not only a double-block class, but also a double-credit class!

Participants receive training and certification in OSHA 10 – as well as assistance with résumé, interview and soft skills – as they prepare for an apprenticeship placement in the Addison area. Interviews and work opportunities are coordinated by GPS Education Partners, a non for profit organization that helps schools partner with manufacturing businesses in the community. Most apprentices work from late August to June (five days a week) and earn $12 to $17 an hour. Flexible schedules are available.

Students also can qualify for free college credit and training at College of DuPage after high school through the Project Hire-Ed Apprenticeship Program (see details at https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/14589).
