District 88 to offer Virtual Learning Academy

As we’ve previously shared, we are thrilled to be planning for full in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year, and we anticipate returning to our traditional eight-period day/schedule this fall.

To accommodate students who were successful in our virtual learning environment during the 2020-21 school year and wish to remain remote, we will offer a Virtual Learning Academy. This program will provide synchronous instruction through Zoom, with the curriculum taught by District 88 teachers and supplemented by the online platform Edgenuity. Students in the Virtual Learning Academy will still be allowed to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities at their home school.

Enrollment in the Virtual Learning Academy will require a semester-long commitment. Admission will be based on previous coursework, a written essay, teacher recommendations and a family interview to ensure student success in the program. Please note elective and fine arts programming will be limited in this format.

If you and your child feel the Virtual Learning Academy would be a good fit, please complete the application at the links below by 9 p.m. on May 17.
