District 88 Transition Program Extended School Year students experience community-based learning opportunities

Throughout June, students enrolled in the District 88 Transition Program Extended School Year (ESY) experienced a variety of community-based learning opportunities, which are listed below.

  • On June 10, the students visited Addison Village Hall (pictured above, top). They spoke with Addison Mayor Rich Veenstra, observed court in session under Associate Judge Michael W. Fleming of the 18th Judicial Circuit Court of DuPage County and toured Village Hall and the Addison Historical Museum (pictured above, bottom).

  • On June 19, the group toured the Addison Police Department.

  • On June 25, the students visited the Addison Consolidated Dispatch Center (pictured above).

 

  • On June 27, the students attended a luau to celebrate their efforts and achievements through the ESY program (pictured above). Students shopped for the ingredients and items needed to prepare the luau meal, and they also participated in luau-themed fitness and leisure activities.

The District 88 Transition Program helps individuals ages 18 to 21 who have disabilities learn life skills, obtain job training in a community setting and transition to life after District 88.
