WHAT IS SCALE?
A study to …
- Continue District 88’s mission of working for the continuous improvement of student achievement.
- Make sure the needs of all students are being met.
- Continue to embrace the diversity of the district to build successful futures for District 88 students.
WHY SCALE?
- District 88 supports and promotes a climate that embraces the strengths of an increasingly diverse student body, and this study will help the district enhance and continue that climate.
WHAT ARE THE STEPS INVOLVED WITH SCALE?
- District 88 has chosen Bea Young Associates, LLC: Collaboration for Educational Equity to assist with this initiative.
- The first step of the study will include individual interviews with members of the District 88 Leadership Council, a focus group with the Leadership Team of each high school (Addison Trail and Willowbrook) and focus groups with faculty, administrators, support staff and students. These interviews and focus groups will begin in early to mid-November.
HOW WILL THE SCALE FOCUS GROUPS WORK?
- Focus groups will be conducted by the consultants to gain insights about District 88’s learning community.
- Participants in the focus groups will be selected randomly and will receive an individual invitation with all the details. Parents/guardians will be asked to give consent for their student to participate in the study. While the district encourages all students to participate, participation is optional.
- All responses will be anonymous and confidential.
WHAT ARE THE FUTURE STEPS OF SCALE?
- Information collected from this study will help guide the direction of future work at District 88 to ensure the district meets the needs of all students and accomplishes its mission of working for the continuous improvement of student achievement.
