District 88 seeking job training sites for Vocational Education Program

District 88 provides a Vocational Education Program that helps students with diverse needs obtain job training in a community setting and transition to life after high school.

The goal of the Vocational Education Program is to help students with diverse needs gain work experience and training at outside job locations in the community, and District 88 is looking for more job training sites. The ultimate outcome is for the students to gain independence in the workplace.

Highlights of the program include:

  • Students are supervised by a District 88 staff member the entire time while on site.
  • Students will be trained for specific job tasks by District 88 staff based on needs/desires of the business owner.
  • District 88 will not ask for or expect any form of paid employment at any time.
  • District 88’s desire is to provide a positive, real-life training experience for the students, while at the same time providing a service to the business owner.
  • District 88 has high standards for students to perform to employer expectations in the areas of behavior, dress/appearance and task completion.
