District 88 participates in mental health presentation for INSPRA

On Oct. 17, District 88 participated in the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA)’s Tips & Tactics Workshop.

This event takes place monthly to provide school district leaders with professional development on a variety of topics related to education and school public relations. The goal is to offer opportunities that broaden knowledge and collaboration.

District 88 Assistant Superintendent for Student Programs and Services Erica Craig, Director of Community Relations Dani Brink and Addison Trail Social Worker Jennifer Dowling presented about mental health, along with partners Amit Thaker (Founder of ReferralGPS), Geri Kerger (Executive Director of NAMI DuPage) and Shannon Hartnett (Executive Director of Northeast DuPage Family & Youth Services, NEDFYS, and President of the Milton Township 708 Mental Health Board).

The presentation focused on how school districts can:

  • Build community partnerships to help implement mental health programs/services

  • Embed mental health within their strategic plan

  • Secure funding for mental health initiatives

  • Improve mental health in the workplace

  • Support mental health efforts through the public relations/communications department
