Willowbrook sophomore named as winner of District 88 Staff Recognition Dinner program cover-design contest

Willowbrook sophomore Andrea Castro (pictured above) was recently named as the winner of the District 88 Staff Recognition Dinner program cover-design contest.

All District 88 students were invited to participate in the competition, where they were able to use any medium to create the program cover for the district’s annual Staff Recognition event that honors employees for their years of service and upcoming retirements.

Castro was selected by the Staff Recognition Dinner Committee as the winner out of 15 entries (submitted by nine students). As the winner, her image was featured on this keepsake, and she also was presented with a $100 gift card during the May 20 District 88 Board of Education meeting. The Staff Recognition Dinner took place on May 3. This year, the district recognized 59 individuals who have been part of District 88 for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 40 years and have given 1,170 years of combined service. The district also thanked 14 staff members who will retire at the end of this school year and – combined – have given more than 330 years of service to District 88.
