On Sept. 5, the Willowbrook and Addison Trail girls volleyball teams went head to head during District 88’s annual Dig/Go Pink match.

The event is part of District 88’s annual Go Pink or Go Home initiative, which raises money for breast cancer awareness and research. This year’s game was hosted at Addison Trail, and the Warriors took home the win (25-12 and 25-12).

Individuals impacted by breast cancer were announced before the varsity game, and the student-athletes presented each person with a pink rose. There also was a moment of silence to remember and honor those who have lost their battle with cancer.

Raffle items and baked goods were available to buy, and the game raised $1,600 to benefit Elmhurst Hospital’s Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Surveillance program and the 7th Annual Go Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Scholarship in memory of Addison Trail special education teacher Elizabeth Clifford.
