• The band program at Willowbrook has been recognized at the local, state and national levels as one of the outstanding programs of its kind. The program consists of the Freshman Band, the Concert Band, the Symphonic Band, The Marching Warriors!!!, Pep Band, Jazz Band, a Percussion Ensemble and an extensive chamber music component.

• The Symphonic Band has consistently received ratings of "Superior" at the IHSA state band contest and Willowbrook enjoys the distinction of being the first school in the state to have two bands (both Symphonic and Concert) rated superior in this contest.

• The Symphonic band has routinely performed at the University of Illinois Superstate Band Contest. The band has been invited to perform for the following conferences:

• Willowbrook music alumni have attended many prestigious colleges and universities and are currently performing in the bands at the many universities.

• Director of Bands, William Gilmer has been recognized by being awarded the Citation of Excellence on three occasions by the National band Association and the Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award by Quinlan and Fabish Music Company. He was elected and served as the band division representative of District IX of the Illinois Music Educators Association.

• The curriculum centers on building performance and listening skills, which will make the students more aware of their aesthetic response to music. To promote this growth, many of our students take private lessons on their instruments. Guest clinicians are often utilized and frequent concerts by university and professional level performers allow our students to hear the very best musicians in the Chicago area.

• Our band program hopes to promote the individual musical skills of each student enrolled in the program while providing outstanding music ensembles of a wide variety, which will broaden the horizons of the members of the group as well as well as those of the listening public.
