District 88 Office Team volunteers at local homeless shelter to give back

On Dec. 16, District 88 Office Team members got into the holiday spirit and gave back to the community.

They volunteered to go to First Presbyterian Church of Itasca to serve a meal at the DuPagePads homeless shelter, where they prepared and served breakfast and cleaned up the facility. They also handed out lunches donated by Arbor Management, Inc.

Typically members of the Addison Trail and the Willowbrook Interact Clubs fill this role, but when Willowbrook Interact Club Sponsor and Social Worker Erik Engel presented the opportunity to District 88 Office Team members, they were thrilled to help out.

“This was a great way to pause and gain a new perspective through helping others,” said District 88 Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton. “It was amazing to interact with the individuals at the shelter and to assist those in need this holiday season. We look forward to participating in more opportunities like this in the future.”
