District 88 launches new ‘88 in 88’ video segment to keep stakeholders connected and informed: Newest episode highlights upcoming District 88 Foundation Paddle Battle Pickleball Tournament

District 88 is thrilled to introduce a new communication piece – a video segment called “88 in 88.” These videos feature about 88 seconds of news and highlights from District 88 to share important information to help keep stakeholders connected with and informed about the district.

The newest “88 in 88” episode highlights the District 88 Foundation’s second annual Paddle Battle Pickleball Tournament, which will take place on March 1 at Willowbrook. To watch the segment, click on the video above.

Each year, the District 88 Foundation hosts and participates in a variety of events to raise money to benefit Addison Trail and Willowbrook students. Those funds are used for grants to implement innovative, teacher-led initiatives that could not otherwise be funded through the district’s budget. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $49,000 through a total of 88 grants. Recent projects include providing media production equipment for students, musical instruments for students in the Mariachi Band, cultural experiences, and a music studio for students.

The pickleball tournament will feature a division for newer players and a division for more advanced players. The foundation also will offer a free lesson from 8:30 to 9 a.m. for those who are new to pickleball, but would like to participate in the tournament. Registration is open now, and the entrance fee is $40 a player. Proceeds will go toward the grants given by the foundation.
