  1. Adding Your Name to User Information

  2. Click Tools à Options à User Information à Type in your name and name and address again à OK to close dialog box
    Click Tools à Envelopes and Labels à Labels à check Use Return Address Box à click New Document à you will have a full sheet of labels with your address.

  3. Inserting Text Into AutoText

  4. Type school name (or whatever you wish to add) à Select (or highlight) text à Click Insert à AutoText à AutoText again à Add
    Whenever you wish to use entry, begin typing, and on the 4th letter the AutoText will appear – just enter to accept entry and continue with your work.

    AutoText entries can be added or deleted easily. Graphics can also be included in an AutoText entry

  5. AutoCorrect

  6. Click Tools à AutoCorrect à Key your entry in the "Replace" box à tab to the "With" box à key in what you wish à Click the Add Button to move the entry into the alphabetized list à click OK

  7. Lists -- adding another paragraph without making another number (or bullet)

  8. Use Shift + Enter – this is a "soft" return. A soft return doesn’t create a new paragraph; it simply continues the current paragraph on a new line. When you DO want to move on to the next number or bullet, simply press Enter

  9. Creating a Macro

  10. Click Tools à Macro à Record New Macro à Key in Macro name then click Keyboard to assign a name (Use Alt + alpha letter or number to assign it) à Assign à Close à Begin recording macro à Click Stop on little Toolbar when finished.

    When you wish to play your macro Click Tools à Macro à Select desired name à Run OR Press shortcut keys for desired macro

  11. Print Preview

  12. Shrink to Fit à only place found à reduces a document one page by reducing the font size.

    To edit a document à click the magnifying glass icon (2d from the left) and your insertion point appears, which allows you to edit your document.

    To view more than one page à click the multiple page icon (next to the %) and drag through the number of sheets you have.

  13. Removing Hyperlink From Name

  14. Right click on mouse à hyperlink à edit hyperlink à don’t save (unless you want) à in the edit hyperlink dialog box on the lower left side click "remove link"

  15. Adding Page Numbers – (assuming you have only 1 section in your document)

  16. Click insert à page numbers à if you don’t want a page number to show on the first page, check the box. à select the page number location à OK

    If you want to type the word "page" or add other information in addition to your page number; i.e., your name/file name, you would Click à View à Header/Footer à Select from toolbar either a header or footer à to type in the header/footer area the tab key will move the insertion point to either the center or the right à note the options on the toolbar à if you don’t want a page number to show on the first page, click Page Setup à Layout à check box for "different first page"

  17. Customizing Your Toolbar or Creating a Toolbar (at home or on a computer that only you use)

  18. Click Tools à Customize à Toolbar à click New à in the Toolbar name box, type the name you want à to add a button to the toolbar, click the Commands Tab. In the Categories box, click a category for the command. Drag the command you want from the Commands box to the displayed toolbar. To add a built-in menu to the toolbar, click the Commands Tab. In the Categories box, click Built-In Menus. Drag the menu you want from the Commands box to the displayed toolbar. Close.

    You can restore the original buttons and menu by à Tools à Customize à Reset

  19. Create a New Folder Using File Manager


Click on File (make sure you are in the drive you wish) à Create Directory à Name your new directory (folder), it only accepts a limited number of letters à once the folder is created you can drag files into that directory.

When you open a program, such as Word or PowerPoint, your files will be in that specific folder (directory) that you created.
