The Vision for 21st Century

The 21st Century Vision for DuPage District 88 is one of a learning community that welcomes, excites, and challenges. This envisioned future is described by:

Classrooms that...

  • are inspiring, caring, respectful, and empowering for all students.
  • focus on experiential, collaborative, and relevant learning. 
  • are technologically well-equipped and in which the technology is integrated with instruction.
  • ensure a learning environment that is personalized and based on relationships.

Learning Programs that...

  • maintain high standards and enable students to develop intellectual and life skills through critical thinking, applied learning across a range of courses of study.
  • address the special needs of diverse learners and their families
  • link with the world outside of the classrooms through business/community partnerships, mentoring/tutoring opportunities, and service learning opportunities.
  • are comprehensive in preparing youth for a variety of roles in tomorrow’s workforce, ranging from professional to those which are technical and service-based in nature. 
  • are interdisciplinary, project-based, career-connected and provide seamless learning through linkages with elementary and junior high school curricula and programs. 
  • are delivered by skilled, caring, enthusiastic and respectful professionals.

  • are safe, climate-controlled and adequate facilities conducive to healthy learning.
  • are inviting, foster mutual respect and cooperation, and learning and extra-curricular opportunities accessible to all students.
  • recognize and communicate effectively with culturally diverse students and families.

  • values and partners with schools in providing shared learning experiences for youth.
  • shares the responsibility for providing safe, inclusive, adequate, and accessible learning and recreational opportunities for youth during after school and evening hours.
