An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
"I found this a saga of tiring self-indulged, smart, privileged teens about to make decisions about their next step after high school. They begin with a road trip that leads to insights on building relationships and learning that you cannot stop the future from coming. Colin’s work on trying to predict the future of relationships by developing a fail-proof theorem that may interest young math minded teens. In my opinion, if you are looking for a great read by John Green, begin with Looking for Alaska." (Dr. Buch)

Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff
"Well written....reveals the many facets of drug addiction and the devastating effects on a family." (Ms. Rodwell)
Buddha Boy by Kathe Koja
"Interesting twist, the bully becomes the bullied." (Ms. Marisie)
The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls
"Excellent account of Jeanette Walls childhood and her survival through poverty, an alcoholic father, and a mother who didn't believe in supervising her children." (Ms. Scimeca)

How to Ruin a Summer Vacation By Simone Elkeles
"I found this book funny. I giggled in many parts. It is about a girl who has to spend a summer vacation with her father in Israel. Her father has not been part of her life up to this point and woe is her." (Ms. Marisie)

Riding the Bus with My Sister: A True Life Lourney by Rachel Simon
"This book told the story of Beth's sister who has downs syndrome. Beth spent a year with her sister riding the buses. What the reader learns is how the family suffered through their parents' divorice and a mother abandoning her children." (Ms. Scimeca)
