Nava celebrated with teammates, friends, administrators, staff members and family members. She is a three-year member of the Addison Trail Varsity Girls Track and Field Team and said highlights of her high school career include:

  • Making it to State for the 4x100-Meter Relay
  • Earning All-Conference honors for the past three years
  • Breaking the indoor 300-Meter Low Hurdles record
  • Breaking the indoor 4x400-Meter Relay record
  • Placing at Sectionals

Nava has been running for seven years and said the challenging nature of the sport is what makes her want to continue at the collegiate level.

“I have had a passion for running ever since I can remember,” Nava said. “I love the bonds and friendships I have formed in Track for the past seven years, and I know I will continue to form new ones in college. Whenever I run, all my stress and worries disappear, and it’s just me and the track. I love the feeling I get when competing, and it’s amazing to see how fast your competitors are. You just have the want to get faster and faster.”

Nava plans to pursue a degree in criminology, law and justice while also studying pre-law at UIC.
