Addison Public Library offers internship opportunity for teens

The Addison Public Library is looking for summer interns to support its Summer Learning programming. Interns will assist in the library’s Free Summer Lunch program, lead volunteers and set up programs for library patrons. This position is an opportunity to develop career skills and to apply personal goals to the library setting. Interns have the opportunity to plan programs around their interests and take on greater leadership roles throughout the summer.

Applicants must be 16 to 19 years old and reside in Addison, and the selected candidates will each receive a $750 stipend. The internship is expected to start on June 3 and end on Aug. 15.

Duties include:

  • Interns are required to assist in setting up and running the library’s Free Summer Lunch program. This includes lifting heavy boxes, moving tables and chairs, distributing food and cleaning.
  • Interns are required to learn and apply all rules regarding food safety and regulation.
  • Interns are required to work with the public and provide polite service to people of all ages.
  • Interns will serve as leaders to large groups of teen volunteers.
