Addison Trail students recognized during Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry Student Honors Banquet

On April 8, Addison Trail seniors were honored by the Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) during the chamber’s annual Student Honors Banquet.

The event took place at Medinah in Addison and recognized the students for their academic and extracurricular accomplishments. To see the list of the class of 2019 ACCI Scholarship honorees, go to https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=4405. Addison Trail Principal Michael Bolden and District 88 Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton presented each student with a certificate for his or her achievements.

Addison Trail seniors Sophia Hawkins, Karime Martinez and Wenyuan Zhang were named as the recipients of the ACCI Scholarship, and the Kiwanis Club of Addison Scholarship winners were seniors Sabrina Cucinella, Ilvie Karafili and Jennifer Reyes. The AJ LaRocca Memorial Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who are interested in pursuing a career in environmental/water reclamation/wastewater treatment or fire services, and this year’s recipients were Kylie Cork, Mackenzie Crawford and Nicholas Kuhar (who are not Addison Trail students).

Addison Trail senior Gianna Caruso served as the student speaker and congratulated her classmates on their success. The keynote speaker was Genesis Garcia (Addison Trail alumna, class of 2014). Garcia spoke about her experiences of navigating college while studying at Northwestern University as the first person in her family to pursue a post-secondary education, as well as her travels abroad. She encouraged students to pursue their dreams.
