Willowbrook Chamber Orchestra debuts piece commissioned for the music group

Jeremy Cohen hosts a clinic on fiddle techniques on Feb. 26 at Willowbrook. Cohen also composed a piece entitled “In Full String” for the Willowbrook Chamber Orchestra, which the group recently debuted. The composition was funded by a Young People’s Music Initiative grant from the JCS Fund of the DuPage Foundation.

The Willowbrook Chamber Orchestra recently performed a piece written for the group by composer Jeremy Cohen.

The orchestra debuted the song, entitled “In Full String,” during a tour from March 1 to 3 in Nashville, Tenn., as well as during a concert on March 7 at Willowbrook. To watch a video of the performance, go to https://youtu.be/_1EuxAJ0r-8.

The composition was funded by a Young People’s Music Initiative grant from the JCS Fund of the DuPage Foundation. The funds have been used to support student-musicians through providing compositions, clinics and master classes and buying instruments and software.

Cohen rehearsed with the orchestra via video conference. He also flew in from California to host a clinic on fiddle techniques, which took place on Feb. 26 at Willowbrook.
