Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department to host Career Week for students

At District 88, the mission is to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement.

As part of that focus, the Addison Trail Guidance Department continually provides events and opportunities to help students be college and career ready. From March 19 to 21, the department will partner with Junior Achievement of Chicago to host its spring Career Week. Below is the schedule of activities for the week.

Tuesday, March 19 (periods 2, 3, 4 and 5)
Manufacturing Panel (Tentative location: Forum Room A)

Wednesday, March 20 (periods 2, 3 and 5)
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Panel (Tentative location: Forum Room B)

Thursday, March 21
Job shadow field trip to Fellowes Brands

Job shadow field trip to Masonite

Addison Trail students are encouraged to explore different career options. Panel discussions and job shadow experiences are great ways for pupils to learn more about various career opportunities. During the Career Week panels, students will hear from four professionals in each field and engage in a dialogue. Teachers can sign up to take their classes, and students who are interested in attending can see Guidance Counselor Dana Marine.

During the job shadows, students will gain information about STEM, manufacturing, design and business. Students who would like to participate should visit the Guidance Office for a field trip form (due by March 14).

Parents/guardians and community members who are interested in being involved with Addison Trail’s future career-oriented initiatives should contact Marine at 630-628-3373 or DMarine@dupage88.net.
