On Jan. 16, members of the Addison Trail Key Club put together Blessing Bags during their general meeting in an effort to help those in need.

The club made nearly 80 bags, which were filled with toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, gloves, hats, socks, wet wipes, Band-Aids, shampoo, conditioner, snack bars, chocolate and a kindness note.

“This event was one of Key Club’s many service projects that we put together for our general meetings to get Key Club members involved in doing more community work that will benefit not only our school, but those in our community and all around!” said Danielle Harris, Addison Trail senior and Key Club Co-President. “Many take the simple and small things in their life for granted, and this project serves to remind all of how grateful they should be for these items.”

Harris added faculty members who donated items were given their own Blessing Bag. Key Club members were then given the opportunity to take a Blessing Bag as well, and the rest were gifted to incoming freshmen and their families. Each person who attended the event was allowed to take a bag and place it in his or her car to give as a gift to a person in need.
