Addison Trail names December recipient of 88’s Best recognition

Chloe Ludwig has been named as Addison Trail’s December recipient of 88’s Best recognition for her academic performance. Ludwig, a senior, was recognized during the Dec. 17 District 88 Board of Education meeting. To watch Ludwig’s 88’s Best presentation, click the video above.

Chloe has taken nine honors courses and eleven Advanced Placement courses, and has aced all of them thus far. She is at the very top of her class, and is very focused and determined to do well. Math is Chloe’s favorite subject because she likes when all of the puzzle pieces fit together. She says, “Math connects with me!” And it’s no wonder – she is extremely organized, determined, and dedicated to completing her work in not only a timely matter, but in a way that even goes beyond what teachers ask of her. Chloe is motivated by her mom and her aunt – both single parents who have set the example for how to be successful women. Chloe manages her time well, and has figured out how to study – which is a skill that is very difficult for many high school students to grasp. She is determined to do well so that she is prepared for what lies next, and she shows her leadership in the classroom through her efforts. Anna McSweeney, English 10 Honors Teacher, says, “Chloe was a model student sophomore year and a pleasure to have in class. She handled group discussions with intelligence and grace, always trying her best to eloquently state her opinions, ideas, and theories. She is by far one of the most polite students I've had in class as well.”

Chloe is also very involved in Addison Trail co-curricular activities and stands out as a leader. She is on Student Council, Key Club, Theater, Math Team, and has worked in a variety of different service events to contribute back to her community. She is the co-Vice President of National Honors Society, a PE Leader with special needs students, and the Sergeant-at-Arms for Student Council. Chloe’s main focus, though, is Orchesis, where she is co-President. She began in Orchesis freshman year, and knew from the very beginning that she wanted to lead this group of young dancers. Junior year, she got the role of Publicity Chair, and took over with energy and enthusiasm.

Chloe loves managing the team with her coaches, and revels in the opportunity to choreograph every dance for the group; it is obvious that she genuinely enjoys the extra responsibilities she has as the president. Ms. Levonne Cescolini-Boyer has been a positive influence on Chloe as well, and not only has Chloe had her as a coach for four years, but she has now had the opportunity to have her as a teacher in AP Government. She was motivated to help more after freshman year, in large part because of the energy Cescolini-Boyer brings to the team.

Chloe advises younger students that to be successful, they should try not to fall behind. She also knows that starting fresh second semester is a great opportunity for all students to get back on the right foot, no matter how difficult first semester may have been. Chloe’s natural encouragement of her peers clearly comes through her personality, and she serves as a great role model for all students.

Chloe has been working this semester to complete college applications to a number of different institutions, including DePaul, Loyola and Marquette. She is very interested in studying Business and Business Management. Chloe manages to balance academics, co-curricular activities, work, and life all at the same time. She does everything with a smile and positive energy that makes people gravitate to her. She exemplifies Blazer Pride, from her school life to her family, and she is so proud to be a part of the rich history of Addison Trail High School.

• District 88 values the hard work and achievements of students and wants to make sure students are honored and recognized for their accomplishments. The District 88 Board of Education and administration created the 88’s Best award to highlight students’ success. That award recognizes nine Addison Trail and nine Willowbrook seniors each school year for reaching their personal best in various areas. Recipients are honored during a District 88 Board of Education meeting in one of the following areas: academics, highly improved performance, extracurricular activities, service work or performing arts/electives. They receive an 88’s Best glass sculpture and a certificate to a local restaurant.
