District 88 recognizes community leaders, first responders and veterans during crosstown football game

On Sept. 14, District 88 hosted its annual Crosstown Classic Football Game between the Addison Trail Blazers and the Willowbrook Warriors. This year marked the 53rd crosstown classic, and the event took place at Addison Trail (it was the school’s Homecoming game). The Warriors won the game.

Before the varsity teams took to the gridiron, the district introduced community leaders and dignitaries to the crowd to thank them for their support of Addison Trail and Willowbrook. Area first responders, veterans and current members of the military also were recognized to honor those who protect and serve in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001.

Attending the game were representatives from the District 88 Board of Education, Village of Addison, Addison Fire Protection District, Addison Police Department, Village of Villa Park, Villa Park Fire Department, Villa Park Police Department, State Sen. Tom Cullerton, State Rep. Kathleen Willis, State Rep. Deb Conroy and multiple local service organizations. A joint Addison police and fire Honor Guard was in attendance as well to present the flags.
