District 88 remembers Sept. 11

On Sept. 11, Addison Trail and Willowbrook recognized the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Students and staff members remembered and honored those who lost their lives 17 years ago as a result of the terrorist attacks that took place on that day and thanked those who continue to protect our freedoms. On Sept. 11, Addison Trail and Willowbrook recognized the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Students and staff members remembered and honored those who lost their lives 17 years ago as a result of the terrorist attacks that took place on that day and thanked those who continue to protect our freedoms.

At Addison Trail, members of the Addison Police Department and the Addison Fire Protection District read a message to honor the anniversary and led the Pledge of Allegiance. They also spoke with pupils in Laura Magnavite’s U.S. History class and Brendan Lyons’ Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level U.S. Government class, where they shared their thoughts and memories of Sept. 11, 2001. Those who attended from the police department are Sergeant Tony Reda and Detective Eric Brant. Those who attended from the fire district are Deputy Chief Scott Walker, Deputy Chief Erik Kramer, Lieutenant John Sullivan, Firefighter/Paramedic Chris Drews, Firefighter/Paramedic Jim Peters, Firefighter/Paramedic Eric Medernach and Community Education & Relations Director Braulio Herrera. The Addison Trail Concert Choir performed the National Anthem as well. To watch the performance, click the video above.

Willowbrook also shared a message with students and staff to honor the anniversary.
