On June 7, Brendan McArdle was named as a statewide finalist for the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA) Girls Soccer Person of the Year award.

McArdle has served as the Ball Boy for the Willowbrook girls and boys soccer teams for the past 38 seasons, and he has worked with the girls soccer team since it was implemented at the school.

“McArdle is a mode of positivity, dedication and sportsmanship,” said Peter Montgomery, Willowbrook Girls Soccer Team Junior Varsity Coach. “He is always hardworking in his duties as Ball Boy and is always the first to congratulate visiting teams on a well-played game, no matter what the outcome. He also always welcomes the officials and thanks them for their work after the games. Everyone in the soccer program is very proud of him and excited for many future seasons to come!”

McArdle also is an alumnus of Willowbrook (class of 1980) and was inducted into the school’s Distinguished Alumni program this past September.
