Addison Trail students visit Northern Illinois University

Addison Trail students tour Northern Illinois University during a college visit on March 6.

On March 6, 35 Addison Trail junior and senior students traveled to Northern Illinois University (NIU) with Addison Trail counselors Shane Cole and Dana Marine and counseling intern Isabelle Witte as part of the school’s college visit opportunities.

The group participated in a tour/scavenger hunt of the campus, ate lunch at the university, visited the bookstore and received information about the admissions process and financial aid. The students also learned about NIU’s Alternative Admissions and McKinley “Deacon” Davis CHANCE Program, which offers students in Illinois the opportunity to earn a college degree. CHANCE is a campus-wide initiative for new freshmen enrolled at NIU and provides service and support for students and is designed to enhance their college experience. For more information about those programs, go to http://niu.edu/chance/admissions/index.shtml.
