Addison Trail senior signs to play football at The University of Chicago

On Feb. 28, Addison Trail hosted a signing ceremony for senior Nick D’Ambrose, who has committed to play football at The University of Chicago. He will be a running back for the Men’s Football Team.

D’Ambrose celebrated with teammates, friends, administrators, staff members and family members. D’Ambrose is a three-year member of the Addison Trail Varsity Football Team and said highlights of his high school career include:

• Being the single-game rushing and touchdown record holder for Addison Trail
• Being named as the Papa John’s Bears “High School All-Star" for Week 9 of the 2017 season
• Receiving Illinois High School Football Coaches Association (IHSFCA) Academic All-State honors in 2017
• Being named to the West Suburban Conference Gold Division All-Academic Team in 2017
• Earning West Suburban Conference Gold Division All-Conference honors twice
• Being named as an All-State Honorable Mention in 2016
• Being named as the MaxPreps Player of the Week for Week 7 of the 2016 season

D’Ambrose has been playing football since he was in kindergarten and said the camaraderie of the sport is what makes him want to continue at the collegiate level.

“What I love about football is the energy, enthusiasm and mental/physical toughness the sport requires,” he said.

D’Ambrose plans to pursue a pre-med track at The University of Chicago.
