The event focused on Fullan's Coherence Framework about how leaders and teachers can make positive changes in their schools.

On Nov. 9, District 88 administrators attended a workshop led by author, speaker and educational consultant Michael Fullan.

Fullan is a worldwide expert in Whole System Change in Education and is the Global Leadership Director of New Pedagogies for Deep Learning. He partners with educational experts and governments throughout the world to help achieve the moral purpose of all children learning.

The workshop was coordinated by Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205, and other districts that attended are Grant Community High School District 124, Moline-Coal Valley School District 40, Queen Bee School District 16 and Community High School District 117.

During the event, Fullan guided participants through the Coherence Framework from his book “Coherence,” which he co-authored with Joanne Quinn. That framework consists of four chambers that work together to assist leaders in improving student learning. Fullan discussed how those drivers can empower leaders and teachers to make positive changes in their schools. The four areas are:

  • Focusing Direction
  • Cultivating Collaborative Cultures
  • Deepening Learning
  • Securing Accountability
