District 88 celebrates October 2017 as National Principals Month

At District 88, our mission is to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement.

It truly takes all of our stakeholders working together to accomplish that goal, and October provides a special opportunity to thank the leaders of our schools – Principal Dr. Daniel Krause at Willowbrook and Principal Michael Bolden at Addison Trail. The National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the American Federation of School Administrators recognize October as National Principals Month – a time to honor the hard work and dedication of America’s principals. This year’s celebration will culminate with Principal Appreciation Week from Oct. 15 to 21 and Principal Appreciation Day on Oct. 20 in Illinois. I would like to thank Daniel and Michael for their leadership, vision and collaboration to ensure we build futures for all students at District 88. As principals, they put in countless hours to continue to improve our schools. Principals serve as educational visionaries, assessment experts, disciplinarians, community builders, public relations experts, budget analysts, facility managers, special programs administrators and guardians of various legal, contractual and policy mandates and initiatives, as well as being entrusted with the education and development of young people.

Under their leadership, Addison Trail and Willowbrook have received national honors such as “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” by The Washington Post, “Best Public High Schools in the Chicago Metro Area” by the Niche Rankings, “Top High Schools” by Newsweek and “Best High Schools” by U.S. News & World Report. And the district has reached that level of success because of our partnerships – it takes a dedicated and passionate staff, a knowledgeable Board of Education, engaged students and involved parents/guardians and community members.

Daniel joined District 88 in 2002 as an Assistant Principal at Addison Trail. He became Principal of Willowbrook in 2007. Michael joined District 88 in 2007 as an Assistant Principal at Addison Trail. He became Principal of Addison Trail in 2015.

We are fortunate to have these two incredible leaders and amazing teams alongside them. Thank you all for everything you do each and every day to allow our students to succeed inside the classroom and beyond, and thank you for your continued support of District 88.
