Addison Trail students present to District 88 Board of Education on educational trip to Italy

During the May 22 District 88 Board of Education meeting, four Addison Trail students who traveled to Italy this past March shared a slideshow of their visit and thanked the Board, the administration and their chaperones for their support of travel-abroad experiences. To watch their presentation, go to https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/6543 and click on “Sister Cities Exchange Trip.”

Twenty-nine Addison Trail students went on the trip, and 14 participated as part of the Village of Addison Sister Cities program. Through that student-exchange program, Addison families hosted 19 students from Il Cartesio High School in Triggiano, Italy, in October, and Addison Trail students stayed with host families while in Italy. Village of Addison Mayor Rich Veenstra, who is Co-President of the Village of Addison Sister Cities Committee, attended the Board meeting with his wife, Mary Ann, who is Secretary of the committee. The Board and administration thanked them and the entire committee for raising funds to help offset the costs of hosting the Italian students and to provide scholarships for Addison Trail students to go to Italy.

The Addison-Triggiano Sister Cities agreement was signed in 2004, and the committee is always looking for new members to ensure these experiences continue for the students of Addison.
