District 88 hosts Appreciation Breakfast to thank local businesses for supporting students with special needs

On May 12, District 88 hosted an Appreciation Breakfast to thank the local businesses and organizations that have supported special education students in the district by providing an opportunity for those students to obtain meaningful job training in a community setting and transition to life after District 88.

Students receive individualized training at those sites with the assistance of vocational aides. This year, 34 companies/organizations were recognized for serving as job sites for more than 100 District 88 students, and a slideshow of those groups can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/ya4ab4m2.

The program is always looking to expand, and businesses interested in participating should contact District 88 Transition Program Vocational Coordinator Christine DiRienzo at cdirienzo@dupage88.net or 630-530-3248.
