On May 5, District 88 hosted a meeting for the Legislative Education Network of DuPage County (LEND).

The mission of LEND is to identify, inform and influence legislation and regulations that impact students and school communities of DuPage County, and the nearly 40 school districts that are members of the organization meet monthly to discuss those issues.

On May 5, information about the following topics was presented:

  • Updates regarding transgender student legislation and issues (Mallory A. Milluzzi with Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins, Ltd. and Leanne Meyer-Smith with Wight & Company)
  • Updates on immigration legislation and issues (Tejas N. Shah with Franczek Radelet)
  • Illinois charter school law (Michael J. Hernandez with Franczek Radelet)
  • The need for dual-credit legislation in Illinois and updates regarding post-secondary math curriculum (Lake Park High School District 108 Superintendent Lynn Panega, Ed.D., and Glenbard Township High School District 87 Superintendent David F. Larson, Ed.D.)
