Chicago Symphony Orchestra woodwind quintet performs at Addison Trail

On April 10, Addison Trail students had the opportunity to experience a woodwind quintet (a small chamber ensemble comprised of five musicians) from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The musicians who performed are Richard Graef (flute), Lora Schaefer (oboe), J. Lawrie Bloom (clarinet), Dennis Michel (bassoon) and James Smelser (horn). They performed music by Haydn, Rossini and Gounod, and each player spoke about the history and evolution of his or her instrument. After the concert, the group met with Addison Trail musicians and spoke about careers in music, college readiness and practice techniques.
