District 88 students and staff participate in West Suburban Conference event

On March 10, Addison Trail and Willowbrook students and staff members participated in a Great Recognition Incentive Toward Students (GRITS) event hosted by the West Suburban Conference Athletic Directors.

The event took place in Warrenville, and the focus was for participants to demonstrate skills they’ve learned to overcome challenges in their life to be successful students. Participants selected an influential staff member to join them for an interactive day of teambuilding. Students also shared what has made this school year successful and discussed how they could serve as role models for others. The day ended with an awards ceremony to recognize the efforts of those in attendance.

The Addison Trail students and staff members who attended are junior Christian Pinedo, junior Andres Vazquez, ACHIEVE Social Worker Nadia Gomez-Moran, Community Liaison Marco Gasca and Assistant Principal Iridia Niewinski. The Willowbrook students and staff members who attended are freshman Josiah Crowder, sophomore Adrian Gallegos, junior Rogelio Ruiz, science teacher Matthew Zaucha, special education teacher Maggie Lamb, Guidance Counselor Kimberly Mikesell and Assistant Principal Tom Cantlin.
