Addison Trail students volunteer at Ronald McDonald House near Central DuPage Hospital

On Feb. 13, 12 Addison Trail students volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House near Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.

The students – who are members of the school’s Interact Club and Key Club – planned, shopped for, cooked and served dinner to residents in the house.

According to http://rmhccni.org/cdh, the House is “designed to create a nurturing and supportive ‘home away from home.’” The House is near Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) and serves families with pediatric patients being treated at CDH, Delnor Hospital or the CDH Cancer Center and Northwestern Medicine Chicago Proton Center.

Key Club Co-Sponsor Karen Grady said those group members have been helping at the House for several years, but this was the first time they partnered with Interact Club. Key Club is sponsored by Kiwanis, a global organization dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. Interact Club is sponsored by Rotary, a global network that comes together to make positive, lasting change at home and abroad. Both clubs perform service projects at Addison Trail and in the community.
